#1: Santa on the Green with Morristown Partnership

Santa Claus is coming to town! At the Morristown Green, the Morristown Partnership is hosting Kris Kringle and a host of his elves to make sure all of the children’s wishes come true for the holidays. The North Pole is all set up at North Park Place, so bring your children to meet Santa in a safe and socially distanced setting.

#2: Morris County School of Glass Holiday Classes

One of the most unique offerings of the season is glassblowing classes with the Morris County School of Glass. Treat your family this year by spending quality time making glass keepsakes. Blow a colorful glass ornament, make a dreidel, or build a snowman for a wintertime event your family will never forget. Each person can expect to make one customized holiday item.

Just because you are staying home for the holidays, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the holiday spirit! This virtual gingerbread contest, hosted by Frelinghuysen Arboretum, gives you the opportunity to put your best work on display for everyone to see online. Submit photos of your gingerbread creations and winners will be announced in early January.

Celebrate the holidays with Elsa and Princess Belle at the Imagine That! Museum. Bring your little princes and princesses to take photographs with their favorite Disney characters and play in a socially distanced environment. Available on December 19th and December 20th. Masks are required! As a bonus, keep an eye on their calendar for a special Santa Claus appearance, too!

The Grow it Green Winter Farmers’ Market has everything you need to gear up for a great holiday meal. Fresh locally grown produce, artisan bread and cheeses, seasonal and specialty items, as well as freshly baked treats, are available in abundance to make sure your holiday table is crammed full of goodies. Walk through the winter wonderland with your kids, apple cider donuts for them and a large seasonal coffee for you, will round-out a day of fun holiday prep.

The Kringle Railway Adventure is a round-trip Christmas train ride for all ages that is sure to put your family into the holiday spirit! Guests will reserve their seating pod in a uniquely themed train car. Train car themes include Candy Cane Lane, Silent Night, Blizzard Car, Present Palace, and Ornament Express. Christmas spirit will abound as you listen to your favorite holiday songs while enjoying fun and games on this train adventure!

The Centenary Stage Company is putting on a holiday classic for you and your family. A Christmas Carol, through the voice of Scrooge, continues to urge us to honor Christmas in our hearts and try to keep it all year round. Show tickets are available every weekend through December 13th.

For a little post-Christmas celebration, the First Night of 2021, hosted by Morris County, is the virtual New Years’ Eve event you won’t want to miss. On December 31st, the program features over 100 artists, 40 performances: dance, theatre/comedy, music (rock, jazz, blues, and classical), visual arts, world cultures, children’s programs, a film festival and so much more. You can close out the special night with virtual fireworks!

Every Wednesday through December 30th, you can enjoy a virtual showing of the holiday classic The Nutcracker. After every presentation, the cast and crew will highlight the intricacies of putting on this production. Post-show interviews and never-before-seen footage is available.

#10: Morris County Park Family Photo Scavenger Hunt

Plants are the stars of the garden, no matter the season. The stars are out in this month’s Scavenger Hunt at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Look for the stars and find the “stars” of the winter garden in this contactless family scavenger hunt. Available every day until December 31st, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., find them all and win a prize!
