Lecture by Barry Thomson on Somerest Hills Equestrian Heritage
Local historian W. Barry Thomason will give an illustrated presentation about the rich and varied equestrian heritage of the Somerset Hills and Morristown areas. Since the late 19th century, when families of wealthy and socially prominent industrialists and financiers from New York and Newark first began to establish lavish country estates in the area, the history and culture of the region has been inextricable linked to various equestrian pursuits and international competitions under the auspices of the United States Equestrian Team. Free to the public.
W. Barry Thomson is an author and lecturer. He is the co-author of the two-volume work, “New Jersey Country Houses: The Somerset Hills”.
