Gingerbread House Contest
“Let it Snow” Themed Gingerbread House Contest
The Jefferson Arts Committee has scheduled its 16th annual Gingerbread House Contest as part of its upcoming Christmas in the Village event. The contest and display will be held in the Milton United Methodist Church’s Headley Hall located at 316 Dover-Milton Road in Milton/Oak Ridge. A PRE-REGISTRATION ENTRY FORM IS REQUIRED accompanied by a $6 entry fee with checks made payable to the Jefferson Arts Committee. ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN WEDNESAY, NOVEMBER 30.
Age divisions for participation are 4 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 12, 13 to 16 years of age, and 17 through adult. The rules are simple – create your own homemade gingerbread house or construct one from a purchased kit embracing the theme Let It Snow. Choose any type of structure with landscaping not to exceed 12” wide x 12” high x 12” long, and all materials (except for a cardboard/wood/plastic base) must be edible! Please do not put your name anywhere on the entry. Judging will be based on the use of different edible materials, creativity, originality, and theme compliance. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each division plus Honorable Mention ribbons.
All gingerbread houses must be dropped off at the Milton United Methodist Church’s Headley Hall on Friday evening, December 2 at 6:30 pm for the judges’ viewing. The public can view all entries and winners on Saturday, December 3 in the church’s Headley Hall between 10 am and 4 pm. Participants must pick up their entries no earlier than 4 pm but no later than 4:15 pm that day.
