Fresh Breezes Orchestra Concert By BONJ
The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey Summer festival closes with the Fresh Breezes Orchestra Concert – Sunday, August 19 at 3:00 pm at Dolan Hall, The College of Saint Elizabeth. Pianist John Pivarnik will be featured in two major keyboard concertos. First will be the great Concerto in g minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. The other will be Piano Concerto #2 by John Ivor Alexander. Alexander’s music is modeled on Baroque – and most notably Bach’s – style. BONJ premiered Alexander’s first concerto in January 2016.
Pianist Sherwin Pan was one of the winners of the 2018 Pearl & Julius Young Music Competition. He will perform the dynamic opening movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto #24.
Special guest soprano Dominika Zamara will sing arias from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Ms, Zamara recently appeared as Donna Elvira in Italy. She will aslo sing Fanny’s aria from Rossini’s La Cambiale di matrimonio. Ms. Zamara will be performing the role in future performances in Italy.
The concert concludes with the majestic Symphony #5 of Felix Mendelssohn – named by Felix’s sister Fanny as The Reformation Symphony. The symphony incorporates the popular chorale tune Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott.
This concert is dedicated to the memory of Karen Pinoci.
