Fantasies, Fugues, Preludes, and Premieres
Music in the Somerset Hills’ 2023 Concert Series kicks off on Sunday, February 12, 3:00 PM with a matinee performance of classical and contemporary works for piano, oboe, and organ at the acoustically brilliant Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
Local artists Brian Harlow (organ), Randall Wolfgang (oboe), and Randall Svane (piano) team up for a program featuring two premiere compositions by Randall Svane, as well as some more familiar favorites including Canzonetta for oboe and piano by Samuel Barber, Prelude and Fugue in D Minor by J.S. Bach, Fantasy on Brother James’ Air by Adolphus Hailstork, and Prelude and Fugue in E-flat Major by Camille Saint-Saëns. The two new works by Randall Svane, which have never before been heard by audiences, include his Oboe Sonata, to be played by internationally renowned oboist Randall Wolfgang accompanied by the composer himself on piano, and Eight Little Preludes and Fugues for solo organ to be interpreted by Brian Harlow.
General admission tickets for adults are $30, while children and students of all ages are welcome to attend entirely free of charge. There is also a $50 VIP ticket option, which includes premier seating and an illuminating tour of PC Morristown’s majestic pipe organ.
