Carriage House Reconstruction Tour
August 31 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm$3 – $12
Join Morris County Historical Society Executive Director Amy Curry on a tour of Phase 1 of the carriage house reconstruction at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31.
The carriage house is critical to the understanding of Morristown’s pre-Civil agrarian land use and is among the few remaining buildings from that time period in northern New Jersey.
As part of Phase 1, windows and doors were removed from the carriage house, painstakingly restored, and returned to reveal a clearer picture of the building. Once the carriage house doors were installed, the hayloft door and man-door near the horse stalls were removed, headed for the same desperately-needed treatment. Phase 1 also includes roof restoration, which is underway, and structural stabilization of the carriage house.
MCHS is located at Acorn Hall, admission, which includes the exhibits and grounds, is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students, and is free for children younger than 12 and MCHS members.
