BONJ Young Artists Competition
The Pearl & Julius Young Music Competition is scheduled for March 11 in 2018 at Dolan Hall at the College of St. Elizabeth on 2 Convent Road in Morristown, NJ. The Competition starts at 12 noon (Daylight Saving Time) and admission is free. Contestants will select a movement from a major concerto or a sonata to play. There are 11 finalists in this contest for musicians aged 16 to 22. This year’s finalists include Ziao Sun (violin), Yuxi Yeung (flute), Caecilia Lee (violin), Jordan Dreyer (bassoon), Kei Otake (cello), Kelsey Lee (piano), Sa’eed Abuwi (trumpet), Angela Kim (violin), Mei Stone (flute), Kinston Ho (violin), and Sherwin Pan (piano). The accompanist is pianist Hyunjin Cho. The judges are Andrew Pecota, Evan Ardelle and Michael Bulychev-Okser.
Winners of the annual competition have an opportunity to play a concerto with the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey during its Summer Music Festival in August. Financial rewards are also included.
