All Aboard for Wellness, Fitness & Fun and the Pumpkin Festival
Trains depart from the Railway Museum at 1 Railroad Plaza in Whippany for Central Park at four times: 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. During the 30-minute ride heading west toward Morristown, sit back and relax as you learn more of the rich history of the train you’re on, while your kids enjoy word games with a healthy theme.
Your train stops about 300 feet from Hanover Township’s Central Park, where you’ll proceed on a four-minute walk to the park entrance to enjoy events and activities, all included with the purchase of your train ticket and courtesy of co-sponsors Bayer, the New York Red Bulls Soccer Team, Wegmans, and the Hanover Township Mayor’s Wellness program.
While at Central Park, meet New York Red Bulls’ Soccer Trainers and join in their 3v3 and soccer tennis games. And don’t miss the Red Bulls’ Street Team, who will “wow” you with demonstrations of what’s possible with some skill and a ball! Stop by Bayer’s interactive “Making Science Make Sense” exhibit for fun experiments that delight children of all ages. Sample free, healthy snacks provided by Wegmans, and make sure your little ones don’t miss Wegmans’ “Ready-For-Prime-Time Produce” shows at the Central Park gazebo where fruit and veggie characters will enchant your children as they learn about healthy eating.
In addition to the events from our business sponsors, take some time to enjoy the amenities of Hanover Township’s Central Park and the Mayor’s Wellness Program activities. See a demonstration of the new outdoor exercise equipment recently installed in the park, go for a guided walk on a path along the Whippany River, join a yoga class, or play some volleyball! If you plan on spending the day, bring a picnic lunch for your family to enjoy at our picnic tables in the park.
The events and programs (rain or shine) will run at Central Park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., so stay as long as you’d like. (Trains will be returning to the Railway Museum throughout the day with the last train leaving Central Park at 3:30 p.m.)
When you have made the rounds at the park, you will walk back to the train boarding area and board the next train to arrive for a 5 minute ride back to the Museum grounds and your car. The last train going back to The Whippany Museum will be leaving the Central Park stop at 3:30 p.m. All train ticket holders must be on that train in order for you to get back to your car.
Tickets are available online at www.WhippanyRailwayMuseum.net up until one hour before departure time, but our trains normally sell out prior to the day of the ride, so purchase your tickets to “All Aboard for Wellness, Fitness & Fun!!!” as soon as possible to reserve spots for your family.
