The Passaic River Coalition at historic Willow Hall

330 Speedwell Avenue * Morristown * NJ 07960

The Passaic River Coalition is an environmental nonprofit organization focusing on the watershed and lands of the Passaic River Basin communities, serving the entire length of the Passaic River, from the Highlands to Newark Bay.

The headquarters is at historic Willow Hall on Speedwell Avenue in Morristown. The Passaic River Coalition is actively engaged in historic preservation of the stately former residence of George Vail, nestled on 6.1 acres along the banks of the Whippany River. An Italianate bracketed country villa with gothic revival elements, built by George Vail in 1848 from a cottage drawing by Andrew Jackson Downing, is on the Federal and State Historical Registry.

Willow Hall is open for tours by appointment ([email protected]) as well as public event offerings on environmental and/or historical topics. The grounds, part of Green Acres open space, are open for public passive recreation from dawn to dusk.
