N. Jersey Hist. & Genealogy Center

The North Jersey History & Genealogy Center is part of the Morristown & Morris Township Library.  The Center has a research department with over 60,000 books, maps, microfilm, archival and manuscript collections relating to the state, the original thirteen colonies and its residents’ family genealogies.  The collection features artwork and books on political cartoonist Thomas Nast, illustrator A.B. Frost and Morris County artist Lucille Hobbie.  The Center features regular programming on history and genealogy and hosts rotating exhibits based on its collections in the Library’s F.M. Kirby Gallery.

Of Special Note:

  • The center provides free access to genealogy subscriptions
  • Volunteers help visitors trace their family origins by request
  • Digital collections can be accessed online for maps, atlases, photos and documents
