Elizabeth D. Kay Environmental Center

200 Pottersville Rd * Chester * NJ 07930 8am to sunset all year

The 233-acre environmental center offers endless ways to get in touch with nature through its meadows, flowering trees, wildflowers, gardens, hiking trails and guided nature walks. A looping trail through one of the fields allows a closer look at the various plant, bird and mammal species that reside in the meadow habitat. Five species the NJ Natural Heritage Program lists as a “concern” or “endangered” have been documented at the Kay Center, which is a testament to the high quality of the native ecosystem.

Of Special Note:

  • A picturesque gorge in an Eastern Hemlock forest along the Black River
  • Spectacular views of the Somerset Hills
