Looking for something to do during winter? Here are 5 fun activities for all ages. Come out and experience something new or learn a new skill!

1. Snowshoe Sundays at Pyramid Mountain  

Get outside and active this winter, and experience the unique and exhilarating sport of snowshoeing! Enjoy a guided trek exploring the beautiful winter scenery and looking for signs of wildlife – all while getting a great workout. No experience is necessary. Please call in advance regarding conditions. (ages 10 and up)

2. Friday Night Skate with DJ Earl at Mennen Arena

Your weekend plans are here! Meet your friends on the ice at Mennen Sports Arena every Friday night from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m., and skate the night away to today’s top hits.

3. Maple Sugar Demonstrations at the Great Swamp

The trees are tapped, and the firewood is chopped – it’s maple sugaring season at the Great Swamp OEC! Experience the fascinating process of maple sugaring from tree to pancake topping. Watch as staff identifies and taps maple trees and collects sap, and make syrup over a wood-fired evaporator. Taste-test different, delicious syrups, including syrup made at the Great Swamp OEC.

4. A Winter’s Day on the Farm: Fosterfields Living Historical Farm

Join an exciting, outdoor family adventure, and experience traditional farm life as it was in the early 20th century. Enjoy an open-air, tractor pulled wagon ride, meet the friendly farm animals, learn the importance of ice harvesting and what tools were used, and help with daily farm chores. Visit the cozy Farmhouse, and follow the inviting scent of seasonal foods cooking on the wood-burning cook stove.

5. Outdoor Skills – Keeping Warm: Great Swamp OEC

Do you feel comfortable in the woods or know what to do when the temperatures drop at night? Spend an afternoon learning different ways to stay warm in harsh temperatures, from clothing to shelters.  (Ages 10 – 15)
