Morris County and Morristown NJ offers much in the way of historic getaways, cultural heritage, parks and recreation, wedding and banquet facilities, meeting spaces, cultural venues and events.
The Morris Museum, the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, Revolutionary War sites and Morristown National Historical Park are just a few of the world class attractions that we have to offer travelers to New Jersey. Ideally located 25 miles west of New York City, Morris County makes a perfect location for a diverse vacation with your family.
For the past five years the Morris County Tourism Bureau has saluted former Morristown resident and political cartoonist Thomas Nast. Nast lived in Morristown for thirty years with his wife and family. His home still stands and is one of the four national landmarks in Morris County.
Nast is said to be the creator of Santa Claus, or at least the modern representation of that happy elf. It is not too much of a stretch to say "Santa Claus was born in Morristown”.
During the upcoming holiday season this will be your last opportunity to purchase one of the Tourism Bureau’s limited edition Christmas ornaments featuring drawings by Thomas Nast. You can choose from a variety of designs and colors, or collect the whole set. Each ornament is priced at $10.00 including tax. Cash or check only. Because the ornaments are glass, we cannot ship your order. All materials made in the U.S.A.
To reserve your ornament, call 973-631-5151. To shop our Morristown-centric gift shop for books, tour guides, stationery, prints, as well as the ornaments, the office is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Christmas Eve.
