A Dickensian Christmas at Historic Speedwell
Charles Dickens, sometimes called the "Father of Christmas", published A Chrismtas Carol in 1843. Historic Speedwell recreates one of the most memorable scenes from the book, when Fezziwig's Ball is brought to life. Taste a variety of treats from the period, dance to period fiddle museic and meet "Old Fezziwig" himself as he presides over his annual ball. Visit the Vail Home decorated to the 1843 period and make a variety of period holiday crafts to take home. Admission is for both Historic Speedwell and Fosterfields.

Christmas at Headquarters
Christmas as we now celebrate it is quite different from that of 225 years ago. While December 25, 1779 was just another work day for the troops at Jockey Hollow and the officers at George Washington's Headquarters, the day was not without some observation and celebration. Costumed staff and volunteers from the Second New Jersey Regiment, Helms' Company will help you learn how some members of the Continental army spent Christmas 1779.
